When characters are created or born, they will be assigned fight points based on their traits. More factors will be added as they are thought of or suggested.
---CONSTANT POINTS The points in this category never change from fight to fight or through the passage of time.
Gender: Due to sexual dimorphism typically making them larger, males will receive two fight points. Females will receive only one.
Large Size: If an animal is considered larger than usual for their species, they will receive one point.
Small Size: If an animal is considered smaller than usual for their species, they will loose one point.
Natural Weapons: Predatory animals have been gifted with traits that make them superior attackers in order to bring down prey. Animals with weapons such as fangs, claws, horns, and venom will receive two bonus points.
Natural Armor: A lot of animals have developed a sort of armor to help protect them from predators. Examples of this are the neck frills of Triceratops, the exoskeletons of crustaceans, the shells of turtles, reptilian scales, the spines on Echidnas, porcupines, and hedgehogs, and the bony shells of armadillos. Animals with natural armor will receive two bonus points.
---SUBJECTIVE POINTS These points will vary from fight to fight.
Species: If an animal is fighting another member of its own species, their will be no points deducted or added. If an animal is fighting an animal of another species larger than it, then they will receive one negative point. This deducted point is added to their larger opponent's score. An example of this would be an average sized cat fighting a large dog such as a Mastiff or Great Dane.
Age: Characters of both genders will receive points based on their age. They will receive two points if they are considered young for their species, three if they are in what is considered the prime or middle age for their species, and one if they are in what is considered the elderly age range for their species.
Physical Health: Animals in good physical condition, lacking deformities, injuries, and medical conditions, will receive a whopping five points for health. Animals with minor deformities such as strabismus or undershot or overshot bites will not receive any health points, positive or negative. Animals with serious and/or troublesome deformities, injuries, and medical conditions will be given negative points which bring down their overall score. The amount of negative points given will depend on the severity of the deformity.
Number of Participants: This applies to team fights and does not affect one-on-ones. Each time will be given one point for each animal fighting on their side, with a maximum of five extra points. Note that these points are particularly nice to have when your roleplaying out a hunt as fight between a group of animals hunting together (such as lions) against a much larger prey animal (such as an elephant.)
When the totals are calculated, the characters (or teams) will be assigned a number range. The numbers will be put into the same random picker we use to determine pregnancies. If the picker selects a number in your range, you win. If you are playing a predator during a hunt fight and you win, the animal you were fighting is killed. I will give an example of a regular fight in the next post. A hunt fight will be featured in the post after that.
DISCLAIMER: This fight system was inspired by the fight system on a site called Kosciusko, a The Silver Brumby roleplay. All credit for the original system goes to them!
